Adnan Tekin was born in 1948, in Düzce. After graduating from High School in Düzce, he enrolled to the Faculty of Mining, Metallurgical
Engineering Department of Istanbul Technical University in 1965. He graduated with masters degree in metallurgical engineering, in 1970. Following his graduation from Istanbul Technical University, he began his Ph.D. studies in England Sheffield Polytechnic Institute with a scholarship from Belgian “Cobalt Information Center”, on the development of manganese maraging steels. Mr. Tekin completed his doctorate in 1974, returned to Turkey in 1975 and fulfilled his military service. Following this, he worked as an expert assistant during the establishment of TUBITAK Marmara Research Center, electron microscopy laboratory. In 1977, he left Tübitak and started working at Istanbul Technical University, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Department as a Dr. assistant.
Dr. Tekin earned the title of “associate professor” in 1980 and became professor in 1989. He was one of the founding members of Turkish Ceramics Society, established in 1990. Professor Tekin has served as a chair of TUBITAK Marmara Research Center, Materials Research Department, between 1991 and 1992. He spent great efforts in 1997, for the establishment of “High Technology Ceramics and Composites Research Center”, sponsored by French and Japanese credits and the State Planning Organization of Turkiye.
Professor Adnan Tekin graduated numerous students and is the author of more than 50 publications, both international and national, and also wrote three books. Professor Tekin passed away September 30, 2000, survived by his wife and daughter.
